Organize Collections and Library

Library keeps your saved bookmarks. A saved item is a page reference, not a live tab or restorable window. Collections give those references a place and a path; the Library index, Timeline, Sources, and Forgotten views give you other ways to return to them without changing where they are stored.

Save a page to a Collection

From the Chrome toolbar:

  1. Open the page you want to keep.
  2. Select the EnsoLinks toolbar icon.
  3. Choose an existing Collection, or create a new one from the destination picker.
  4. Select Save page, or the save action shown for the selected destination.

From the EnsoLinks Workspace, you can also drag a live Open Tab onto a Collection or use Save selected pages to collection. These actions save page references and leave the live Chrome tabs open.

If the page is already in that destination, EnsoLinks can skip the duplicate and point you to the existing Library item instead of silently stacking another active copy.

Use Unsorted as a protected inbox

Unsorted is the default protected Collection for saved pages that do not yet have another home. It stays at the start of the Collection tree and cannot be deleted or renamed.

Use it as an inbox:

  1. Open Library → Unsorted.
  2. Select or drag a page into the Collection where it belongs.
  3. Leave uncertain items in Unsorted until their destination is clear.

Unsorted keeps saved bookmarks in Library. It is not a temporary Session and does not auto-expire with Sessions.

Create and nest Collections

  1. Switch the EnsoLinks sidebar to Library.
  2. Choose New collection.
  3. Enter a name that describes what belongs there.
  4. Choose a parent Collection when you want the new Collection nested.
  5. Create the Collection.

To reorganize the tree, drag a Collection to another valid Library position. EnsoLinks keeps nested Collections under their parent. Sessions cannot be used as parents for Library Collections.

If a Collection name already exists under the same parent, EnsoLinks chooses a different name rather than overwriting the existing Collection.

Rename, pin, reorder, or delete a Collection

Open a Collection's available actions to rename, pin, or delete it. Drag peer Collections to reorder them.

  • Pinned and unpinned Collections have separate order groups.
  • Unsorted always stays first and cannot be pinned, renamed, moved, or deleted.
  • Deleting a Collection moves its contained Library pages to Trash rather than erasing them immediately.
  • Library Trash retains deleted bookmarks for 30 days and is available under Settings → Data → Trash for restore.

Move one page or several pages

To move a page:

  1. Open its Library Collection.
  2. Use the page's move action or drag it to the destination Collection.
  3. Confirm the new location in the Library tree.

For several pages, select them and use the available bulk move action. EnsoLinks prevents a move that would create an unsupported duplicate in the target and reports the items it could not move.

Moving a Library item changes its Collection path. It does not move or close any live Chrome tab for the same URL.

Browse Library without changing its structure

Library offers four top-level ways to look across saved pages:

  • Library index shows saved bookmarks across Library Collections.
  • Timeline groups saved pages by when they were added.
  • Sources groups pages by website.
  • Forgotten brings forward older pages that have not been opened recently.

These are views over the same Library data. Choosing one does not move a page or create another copy.

Example: A page can live in "Research → Browser architecture," appear under its website in Sources, and also appear in Timeline. There is still one active Library item.

Keep one page from a Session

If a Session contains a page worth keeping after the workspace is no longer useful, save or move that page into a Library Collection. The page becomes a Library bookmark; the rest of the Session remains a Session.

Promote a whole Session

Use Promote to Library only when every page in the Session should become a permanent Collection and you no longer need its window layout.

  1. Open the Session.
  2. Choose Promote to Library.
  3. Read the confirmation.
  4. Confirm the promotion.

If the same page already appears in another Library Collection, the promoted bookmark remains a separate entry. Promotion does not merge their notes or metadata.
